Once more we had to rise early to move on in our journey to Antarctica.
Our second and final day in Rio de Janeiro climaxed with a visit to the Statue of Christ the Redeemer.
Finally, 17 February 2025 arrived and we were definitely ready to leave for our expedition trip to Antarctica.

On hearing that more and more countries were closing their borders to all but their own citizens, we realised we needed to get home before it became impossible.

Sadly, the Falkland Islands were to be our last port of call.

Today was one we really wanted to see and experience, going around Cape Horn on the way to Stanley in the Falkland Islands or Islas Malvinas in Spanish. We were ready for the rough seas and turbulent waters about which we had read.

In Ushuaia Part 1 I described how we spent our morning in Ushuaia exploring the town. In the afternoon we went on a narrow-gauge train excursion to the lake in the Tierra del Fuego National Park.

No sea day in between our visit to Punta Arenas and Ushuaia, Southern Argentina.

After a wonderful day visiting Puerto Montt and surrounds we had another 2 days at sea but the 2nd was really exciting.

As I wrote at the end of my last blog, our first day on board was at sea.
